REVIEW: BeachLife Festival brought the best vibe to the coastal City of Redondo Beach rocking the shoreline the weekend of May 13-15, 2022

BeachLife Festival  returns to the coastal City of Redondo Beach bringing magical memories to last a lifetime. The oceanfront three-day festival featured a lineup of music with artists from several music genres. The legendary SeaSide Lagoon set the backdrop. of the festival with the ocean, sunny skies, and warmth of the California sun. The lineup was amazing with over fifty artists across four stages.

Jim Lindberg (Pennywise) kicked off the festival on day one opening up their set on the Lowtide stage. Alternative rock band Velvet Starlings and alternative Los Angeles DREAMERS held it down on their stages. The Los Angeles Dreamers played the following setlist:

DAY ONE

Alternative rock band Dreamers, rock band Milky Chance, Grammy winner soul-based Black Pumas, and alternative indie American rock band Weezer played the Hightide stage on Friday.  The acoustics of each stage were all on point. They all sounded really good.

Nothing but chillin and good vibes with ten thousand plus concert attendees all grooving to the beat of a variety of drums. American punk rock band Jim Lindberg (Pennywise), American Indie pop Cannons, American Alternative indie rock band Cold War Kids, and alternative funk-rock band 311 all performed on the Lowtide stage.  American reggae-rock band Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds from Hermosa Beach, punk rock Yotam Ben Horin (Useless Id) and punk rock Joey Cape (Lagwagon) all performed on the Speakeasy stage.

The Riptide stage featured Indie rock and roll Velvet Starlings, punk folk-rock Hoist the Colors, American dub/ska/rock Long Beach Dub All-Stars, and jazz ska band The Aggrolites. 

DAY TWO

The lineup was just as impressive. Reggae fusion pop-reggae band Majic opened up the day on the Lowtide stage with Hermosa Beach’s The Charities jam band performing on the Riptide stage. Sugar Rae came out hot on the Hightide stage to some of his fans relaxing and enjoying the vibe from the green grass while dancing on their blankets and enjoying the show. American artist Donovan Frankenreiter, Alternative indie Michael Franti & Spearhead, American rock band Stone Temple Pilots from San Diego, and the American alternative rock band Smashing Pumpkins all performed on the Hightide stage.
Reggae fusion pop band Majic, Rock band “The Record Company”, Alternative rock and reggae artist Matisyahu, Los Angeles-based American pop Capitol Cities band, and indie pop and indie-folk artist Vance Joy all performed on the Lowtide stage oceanfront with the Palos Verdes Península backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.

Jamison JarvisHip Hop’s Too Rude, Art Alexakis, and Charlotte Sabina all performed on the Speakeasy stage.

The Charities, Jeremy Buck, American singer Rita Wilson, Country band Feed the Kitty from Los Angeles and alternative rock band Phantom Planet all performed on the Riptide stage.

The closing headliner The Smashing Pumpkins closed the festival down day two with a cover of Talking Heads “Once in a Lifetime” song. The Smashing Pumpkin set list included:

DAY THREE

Sunday started with cooler temperatures, and it warmed up hot about midday. After Saturday’s sold-out show of an estimated ten thousand plus attendees. The bands began to play on the last day of the festival slow and steady and the beach goers started to arrive. Rock band Alo performed on the Hightide stage kicking off the show while The Altons had an acoustic set on The Speakeasy stage. Next in the lineup was Karl Denson Tiny Universe playing on the Lowtide stage while Wall of Sound played the Riptide stage.

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Devon Allman Project, Joe Russos Almost Dead and Sheryl Crow shred on the Lowtide stage. The Altons, Latch Key Kid, Lily Meola, and Dan Kelly from Fortunate Youth played on the SpeakEasy stage. Wall of Sound, Cubensis, Landon McNamara and The Hip Abduction performed on the Riptide stage.

BeachLife Festival was the highest vibe in Southern California and its rich music culture that weekend. The performances were spectacular along the gorgeous Southern California coast. Kudos to the BeachLife team that brought this festival to Southbay for the third annual year creating magical moments for attendees and live streaming for those that stayed home. BeachLife Festival is all about the community.  They encouraged “eco-friendly single-use conscious containers, COVID safe protocols, and operational guides.” The three-day four-stage music festival with over fifty artists located on the beachfront of Redondo Beach was an experience of a lifetime and is all about the community with “eco-friendly and single-use conscious bottles, COVID safe protocols and operation guides in place and a mission statement that embraces the community.
