In an exclusive interview, Vybz Kartel speaks candidly about his life, his music, and his perspective on the dancehall landscape following his release. The self-proclaimed 'World Boss' is reflective, philosophical, and as sharp as ever.

Reggae Rock News: How are you feeling now that you're back with your family and your fans? Vybz Kartel: Grateful. That's the word. Grateful for every breath, every sunrise, every moment with my children. When you've been through adversity, you develop a different relationship with life. I don't take anything for granted anymore.

RP: Your music continued to dominate even during your absence. What does that tell you about your connection with the people? Vybz: It tells me that the music is real. You can lock up the artist but you can't lock up the art. The people connected with the truth in the music, and that connection transcended any physical barrier. I'm humbled by that loyalty.

RP: What direction is your new music taking? Vybz: Growth. Evolution. I've always been an artist who pushes boundaries, and that hasn't changed. But there's a maturity now, a depth that comes from lived experience. I'm exploring different sounds, different themes. The fans will be surprised in the best possible way.

RP: What's your message to the youth in Jamaica and across the diaspora? Vybz: Education. Elevation. Use your mind as your greatest weapon. The system is designed to limit you, but knowledge is the key that opens every door. Read, think, create. Don't let anyone define your ceiling.

Vybz Kartel's comeback album is expected later this year. He is currently working on a series of collaborations with both established and emerging artists from across the Caribbean and beyond.
