Reggae Jam 2026 - Festival Report

Reggae Jam 2026 delivered another unforgettable weekend of roots, culture, and positive vibrations in Bersenbrück, Germany. The festival, now in its 30th year, drew over 25,000 fans from across Europe and beyond, cementing its reputation as one of the premier reggae events on the continent.

The headline performances were nothing short of spectacular. Sizzla Kalonji opened the main stage on Friday night with a fiery set that had the crowd on their feet from the first bar. His powerful delivery and unwavering message of Black consciousness and spiritual upliftment set the tone for the entire weekend.

Saturday belonged to Chronixx, whose two-hour headline set was a masterclass in modern reggae. Drawing from his acclaimed albums 'Chronology' and 'Dela Move', Chronixx demonstrated why he is considered the torchbearer of the new generation. The crowd sang along to every word.

Sunday's closing performance by Burning Spear was a moment of pure reverence. The legendary artist, now in his late seventies, delivered a set of breathtaking power and conviction. Songs like 'Marcus Garvey' and 'Slavery Days' took on new resonance in the current global climate.

Beyond the main stage, the festival's smaller stages showcased an impressive array of emerging talent from Jamaica, the UK, and continental Europe. The food village, craft market, and cultural exhibitions added depth to the experience, making Reggae Jam a true celebration of the culture.

Festival director Markus Löhr expressed his gratitude to the artists, crew, and fans who made the 30th edition so special. 'This festival is built on love,' he said. 'And every year, the reggae family shows us what that love looks like.' Reggae Jam 2027 dates will be announced in the coming months.
