Ostróda Reggae Festival Celebrates 25th Edition

Poland's Ostróda Reggae Festival marked its 25th anniversary with a landmark edition that brought together some of the biggest names in reggae alongside a vibrant selection of Polish and European acts. The four-day event, held in the picturesque lakeside town of Ostróda, attracted a record attendance of over 30,000 music lovers.

The silver jubilee edition featured a special retrospective programme celebrating the festival's history, with archival footage, photo exhibitions, and panel discussions with artists who have performed at Ostróda over the years. It was a moving tribute to the festival's role in building the reggae community in Central and Eastern Europe.

Headliners included Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley, whose electrifying performance blended reggae and hip-hop in a way that captivated the diverse crowd. Protoje brought his sophisticated brand of modern roots reggae, while veteran act Steel Pulse delivered a politically charged set that drew thunderous applause.

Festival founder Wojciech Jabłoński reflected on the journey: 'Twenty-five years ago, we started with a small stage and a big dream. Today, Ostróda is one of the most respected reggae festivals in the world. We are proud to have played a part in spreading this music and this message across Poland and beyond.'

The festival also featured a dedicated stage for Polish reggae artists, showcasing the remarkable growth of the local scene. Acts like Peja, Danar, and Miuosh demonstrated that reggae's message of unity and resistance resonates deeply in the Polish cultural context.
