The reggae world is in mourning following the passing of Fantan Mojah, one of Jamaica's most gifted and spiritually grounded artists. He passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 49, leaving behind a catalogue of music that will continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come.

Born Everton Williams on August 5, 1976, in Kingston, Jamaica, Fantan Mojah emerged in the early 2000s as a powerful voice in the roots reggae revival. His debut album 'Hail The King' announced the arrival of a major talent, with its combination of conscious lyrics, melodic delivery, and deep spiritual conviction.

Over the course of his career, Fantan Mojah released a string of acclaimed albums including 'Warrior King', 'Conquer', and 'Rasta Government'. His music was characterised by its unwavering commitment to Rastafarian principles, social justice, and the upliftment of the African diaspora.

'Fantan was a true warrior for the music,' said producer Sly Dunbar. 'He never compromised his message for commercial gain. Every song he recorded was a prayer, a statement, a call to consciousness. We have lost a giant.'

Fellow artists took to social media to express their grief. Sizzla Kalonji wrote: 'My brother Fantan Mojah, you fought the good fight. Your music is eternal. Jah will receive you with open arms.' Luciano added: 'A true soldier of righteousness. The music will carry your name forever.'
