Buju Banton

Mark Anthony Myrie, known professionally as Buju Banton, is one of the most influential and celebrated artists in the history of reggae and dancehall music. Born on July 15, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica, Buju grew up in the Denham Town community, where the sounds of the street shaped his early musical identity.

He burst onto the dancehall scene in the late 1980s and quickly rose to prominence with his deep, gravelly voice and commanding stage presence. His 1992 hit "Boom Bye Bye" made international headlines, while his conscious turn in the mid-1990s — marked by the landmark album "Til Shiloh" (1995) — cemented his status as a roots reggae icon.

His 1995 album "Til Shiloh" is widely regarded as one of the greatest reggae albums ever recorded.
