Biography
The African Brothers are a Jamaican roots reggae group who emerged from the fertile Kingston music scene of the early 1970s. Led by Neville "Tarzan" Brown, the group became known for their deeply conscious lyrics, heavy roots rhythms, and unwavering Rastafari message. Their music spoke directly to the struggles of the Jamaican working class and the spiritual aspirations of the Rastafari community.
The group recorded prolifically throughout the 1970s, releasing a series of singles and albums that captured the raw, spiritual energy of the roots reggae era. Tracks like "Torturing" and "Party Time" became well-known in reggae circles, showcasing their ability to blend social commentary with infectious rhythms.
